Let me tell you something I never thought I’d say publicly: Being misunderstood used to break me, not just once or twice, but over and over again.
It started early. I was the kid who saw the world differently. I felt more deeply. I dreamed a little louder. While others were learning how to stay in line, I was wondering why the line existed in the first place. I didn’t fit the mold. And when you don’t fit the mold, people get uncomfortable. They label you, dismiss you, and try to shrink you down into something they can manage.
And for a long time, I let that define me. Fast forward to adulthood? It didn’t get easier. It got more intense. Because the more I grew emotionally, spiritually, and entrepreneurially, the more I noticed a pattern: The higher I operated, the more I was misunderstood. And chances are, if you’re reading this… you’ve felt that too.
When People Don’t Get You
They’ll say:
- “You’re too intense.”
- “You’re doing too much.”
- “Why can’t you just be satisfied?”
But here’s the truth: you’re not too much. They’re just not used to someone like you.
You’re wired differently. You don’t sit still. You don’t settle. You see possibilities where others see problems. You’ve got a rare blend of logic and heart that most people haven’t learned to balance within themselves. That’s why they mislabel your clarity as arrogance, your energy as aggression, and your love as control.
But that doesn’t mean you’re wrong. “It just means you’re early.”
The Visionary’s Curse
Vision is a gift until it becomes a burden. Ever been there? You talk about what’s possible, and people stare back blankly. You feel connected to something so big and beautiful… and no one else can feel it yet. You try to explain your heart, your mission, your “why,” and they miss it. Or worse, they question it. There were days I felt like I was speaking a language only God and I could understand.
But I learned something the hard way:
“When you carry something sacred, not everyone can hold it.” Stephen Scoggins & Tama
The Real Reason You’re Misunderstood
Let’s break this down not just for your mind, but for your spirit:
You move faster than most.
That clarity you carry? It freaks people out. Your decisiveness exposes their hesitation.
- You feel deeper than most.
That sensitivity isn’t weakness, it’s a superpower. But it also makes you a mirror for people’s unresolved pain. - You carry presence.
You shift rooms without trying, not because of ego, but because of energy. That intimidates people who haven’t done their inner work. - You don’t play surface-level games.
You crave depth. Truth. Alignment. And until others are ready for that, they’ll push you away before they lean in. - You love with fire.
When you’re in, you’re all in. But if someone’s not healed, they’ll misread that love as pressure, not passion.
The Loneliness That Comes With It
Let’s not sugarcoat it:
Being misunderstood hurts.
It makes you question everything:
- “Maybe I am too much.”
- “Maybe I should tone it down.”
- “Maybe I should stop caring.”
But here’s what I know for sure: When you betray your true self to be accepted, you lose your power. (Self-Abandonment)
I tried that. Played small. Dressed it up. Dressed it down. Tried to fit in. It almost killed the very thing I was born to do.
You don’t need to become more palatable. You need to become more aligned.
You’re Not Alone
I want you to hear this:
- You’re not crazy.
- You’re not broken.
- You’re called.
The world doesn’t need more watered-down versions of powerful people.
It needs the real ones, the ones who’ve done the inner work, who live with purpose, who are willing to walk alone until they find their aligned people.
And those people? They’re real.
- They’ll see your fire and fan it.
- They’ll feel your soul and say, “Me too.”
- They won’t need you to shrink; they’ll help you expand.
Turning Pain Into Power
If you’ve been misunderstood…
By your family, By your team, By someone you loved with everything you had, and By the world you’re trying to serve
- Don’t turn bitter.
- Don’t close your heart.
- Don’t become what you had to protect yourself from.
Instead, become the most integrated, grounded, bold version of you. Let the pain clarify you. Let the misunderstanding sharpen your discernment.
Let it drive you not to fit in but to align.
Because here’s the paradox:
The more misunderstood you’ve been, the more you’re meant to help others feel seen.
Want to Know Where You’re Out of Alignment?
Here’s something that changed the game for me, and it might for you too.
I created a tool called the Integrated Alignment Method™ Quiz, which is designed to help high-performers like you finally see where things feel off, why you keep repeating certain patterns, and how to get fully aligned in business, life, and leadership.
- 🧠 It’s not a personality test.
- 🧭 It’s a mirror.
- ⚙️ A breakdown of where you’re thriving and where you’re self-sabotaging.
If you’ve ever felt misunderstood or misaligned, this tool will quickly give you clarity, strategy, and peace.

Final Thoughts: Be Misunderstood and Keep Going
Listen to me closely. You weren’t meant to be average. You weren’t meant to be easily explained. You were born to be a bridge between what is and what could be. A builder. A breaker of cycles. A force for good that the world will catch up to eventually. And yes… until then, you’ll likely be misunderstood. But don’t stop. Because one day, you’ll look around and see people who get you. Clients. Friends. Partners. A tribe that’s home.
Until then?
- Keep building.
Keep burning bright. - Keep being you.
The world may not always understand you… But it needs you now more than ever.
Much Love & God Bless,
